It blends Japanese hinoki, the calming forest scent at the heart of kimorii, with bright, uplifting yuzu. Hinoki has been used in Japanese bathing rituals for centuries and is traditionally associated with grounding and quiet. Yuzu is a beloved Japanese citrus, often added to baths and known for its bright, lifting aroma. Together, they create a layered scent experience. Grounding underneath, bright on top.
Blended in organic jojoba oil and housed in a 10 ml rollerball, so you can take the scent with you.
How to Use
- Inhale from the bottle - Unscrew the cap and take a few slow, intentional breaths directly from the opening. The fastest way to feel it. Smelling directly from the bottle with make the aroma smell more citrus since it's a top note.
- Roll on - A small dab on the wrists or top of hands.

We went to the forests of Japan to source our hinoki oil directly and visit the rural towns it supports. We wanted to see where the wood comes from, meet the people behind it and understand the communities that are struggling. It was also a chance to spend time in the ancient forests that inspired the entire kimorii collection.
The hinoki wood used for oil is never taken from healthy, straight lumber grade trees. Those become building material. The pieces that are too small or irregular get turned into chips. Nothing is wasted. It keeps the forest managed and supports the local mills that rely on this process to stay alive.
Those chips go into a steam distillation setup where heat pulls out the natural aroma compounds. That is where hinoki oil actually forms. The first time we saw it, the entire room smelled like a calming forest. Pure, simple and nothing added. Just the scent that Japanese researchers have studied for decades.
After distillation, the oil is filtered, sent to us in the USA and filled into bottles by hand. That is how the forest turns into something you can use anywhere.
When trees are harvested for lumber, new ones are planted. The process supports rural communities that are shrinking and helps keep traditional forest management alive. When you use the kit, you support that cycle. Calm for you and a sustainable future for the people who maintain these forests.

How long will it last?
With daily use, a 10ml Pause rollerball lasts between 1 and 3 months. The range depends on how often you reach for it and how much you apply per session.
Why does it smell different when you roll it on?
The oils separate by weight when the bottle sits. Citrus notes from yuzu are lighter and rise to the top of the bottle, so when you smell directly from the opening you get a brighter, more citrus-forward scent.
When you roll the oil onto your skin, you're applying the full settled blend. The citrus evaporates first, and what stays with you is mostly the deeper, woody hinoki notes underneath.
Will the bottle leak?
Most won't, but unfortunately one of the biggest drawbacks of any rollerball is the potential to leak. The plastic insert that holds the ball expands and contracts with temperature changes, a hot car, a checked bag, a cold mailbox, and that can sometimes push a small amount of oil past the seal.
If it does happen, just wipe it down and the bottle still works. Keep it upright and out of extreme temperatures and you'll usually be fine.
How long does the scent last on skin?
It varies by person, but in general the scent won't last more than 2 hours when applied to the skin. Unlike synthetic fragrances that are engineered to stick around longer, all-natural oils evaporate more quickly. The trade-off is that what you smell is real plant compounds, not synthetic mimics.
Is this a perfume?
We didn't create Pause as a traditional perfume, but some people do wear it that way. We built it for function first, a tool to help regulate the nervous system, designed to be quickly accessible at the wrist when you need a reset. It just happens to smell incredible.
