Forest Block
A tactile reminder that calm isn’t a luxury, it’s a performance tool. Carved with the Japanese hiragana やすらぎにねざす (yasuragi ni nezasu), which means “rooted in calm,” this block keeps your reminder front and center. Touch its smooth surface and add up to 3 drops of hinoki to the top. As the oil dries, lift it to your nose, breathe deeply and reset to calm.
Hinoki oil sold separately.
Forest Block: 2.65 x 3 inches.
1. Keep this piece on your desk, nightstand, or anywhere you need a visual reminder that calm is intentional.
2. Run your fingers over the smooth wood and feel the subtle engraving of the word “calm,” the hiragana やすらぎにねざす, and our logo.
3. Set it down and add 1-3 drops of hinoki essential oil to the top surface.
4. Pick it back up and bring it close to your nose.
5. While you inhale, practice the 4-4-4-4 breathing method: Inhale for 4 seconds, Hold for 4 seconds, Exhale for 4 seconds, Hold for 4 seconds.
6. Repeat whenever you need another moment of calm.

HOW WE MAKE FOREST BLOCK
Every block is made during a quiet moment in our workshop, where woodworking itself becomes a calming ritual. We begin by laser cutting each shape from locally sourced wood (hinoki coming soon). Next, we engrave the word “calm,” the hiragana やすらぎにねざす and our logo. Then we sand every surface until it’s smooth and carve a shallow well on top for your hinoki oil.
The product is small and light enough to carry in my EO bag and does a great job and holding in the scent. I originally planned to use it for multiple oils, but the owner recommended that I try just using hinoki for a few months so the block ages and creates a more unique scent. Excited to see how it turns out!
