Hinoki Oil
Hinoki orders after March 15th will be shipped on April 1st.
Hinoki oil is derived from the Japanese hinoki tree and is known for its woody, fresh, and calming aroma. When used in a diffuser, it can create a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere that can help reduce stress and anxiety. To use hinoki oil in a diffuser, simply add a few drops of the oil to the water in your diffuser and enjoy the soothing and refreshing scent. Since hinoki oil is our favorite scent, we smell it directly out of the bottle when we need a moment to relax throughout the day. At night, we also apply a drop of hinoki to the top of our hand.
Hinoki oil's botanical name is Chamaecyparis obtusa (hinoki) and originates from Japan.
Hinoki has a variety of benefits, both when used in aromatherapy and when applied topically. Some of the potential benefits of hinoki oil include:
1. Natural Stress Relief: Hinoki wood and oil contain aromatic compounds called phytoncides, which reduce stress and anxiety. Studies show that inhaling hinoki fragrance helps lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone), promoting a calmer, more peaceful mindset.
2. Enhanced Mood and Mental Clarity: The subtle, clean scent of hinoki has been shown to boost mood, enhance concentration, and increase feelings of well-being. Whether at work or home, the presence of hinoki can support a focused, productive, and positive atmosphere.
3. Improved Sleep: The calming properties of hinoki make it ideal for promoting restful sleep. Incorporating hinoki essential oil or wood chips into your nightly routine helps relax the mind and body, preparing you for deep, restorative sleep.
4. Antibacterial and Air Purifying Qualities: Hinoki naturally possesses antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping to cleanse your environment. It also purifies air by removing toxins and pollutants, making your home cleaner, safer, and more refreshing.
It's important to note that while hinoki oil may have these potential benefits, more research is needed to fully understand its effects and how it can be used most effectively.

WHY WE LOVE HINOKI OIL
Hinoki oil instantly became our favorite essential oil after we discovered it at an onsen during a visit to Japan. Its calming aroma helped us feel fully present in the moment and was the perfect start to our time to relax. While the onsen's serene atmosphere may have heightened our initial reaction, it’s a testament to the power of scent—how it can evoke cherished memories and transport us back to unforgettable experiences. Once we returned to the US, we made hinoki oil a big part of our evening routine. After completing our skincare regimen, we take a few minutes to breathe deeply while enjoying the pure scent straight from the bottle, followed by applying a single drop to our hands before bed.
I have a full collection of wood oils from around the world and I can’t go a day without hinoki.
Hinoki oil is one of nature’s beautiful gifts. I started using it throughout the day to help control my mood swings and it’s made a really big difference. I know everyone reacts to oils differently but it’s worth trying if you’re looking to help reduce stress an all natural way.
One of the highest quality oils you can have in your EO collection.
I originally bought hinoki from this company and tried other brands since they were cheaper. I found myself missing the smell of this particular hinoki so now I’m back! I do recommend trying other brands to see which scent on hinoki you prefer since they smell slightly different.
Cedar is cheaper than hinoki but just doesn’t hit the same way as hinoki. I’d love to see an option for a larger bottle if it is cheaper in the long run.
